I found this site that says mangoes are heat treated in order to kill any larvae from mangoes entering the united states?Do you think this is true if so does that make it bad or do you think it would not be hot enough to make it really dirty here's a quote from this page
http://www.tonytantillo.com/fruits/mangoes.html

Mangoes are starting to gain popularity in the United States due in part to the increased "globalization" of cooking in the United States. Mangoes are not expected to become number one because most varieties including my favorite, the Manila Mango, never make it into the United States, because their thin, delicate skin will not survive the heat treatment required by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to remove potential larvae.

[Mad] Wow [Mad] , they REALLY do anything to prevent the people from becoming healthy in the US... the pharmaceutical companies are stronger in the US than in any other country...
it wount be long, and all fruits need to be cooked first, i guess....

quote:
From this page
"Vapor-heat, high-temperature forced-air, and irra-diation are currently the only quarantine treatments avail-able. Because they use heat, vapor and forced-air treat-ments are inferior to irradiation regarding fruit qualityboth before and after treatment. Irradiation allows fruitto be treated at a riper, tastier stage than the heat treat-ments, which slightly cook produce, further reducingits savoriness and freshness. Irradiation, in contrast to heat treatments, does not change the raw character of the produce..."

so, that heat treatment DOES change the raw character of the mango... [Frown]

they use it for multiple exotic fruits; as long as they are imported from 'exotic countries', but i don't know how much of these fruits are treated that way... [Confused]
until now, they have only become more ridiculous, and i don't see why they would stop doing that, so, yes, i fear that they will create legislation that enforces cooking of all fruits, unless the people stop them...

in my opinion, they want to create a sterile world, in which we depend on arteficial foods, supplements and drugs, and cannot cope with natural bacteria, worms etc anymore; totally dependent on commercial products.
If they could, they would create an arteficial sky / shell over our heads, and sell us oxygen as well...

You should treat us to more broad discussions of the social/political implications of your ideas. One can only do so much, surely, but I imagine a whole new political message board would make for some interesting reading. I can sense a little poetry in this words as well... Don't ignore the muses!

does anyone know for sure if the avocadoes which come from Mexico undergo this same "heat treatment" in order to insure larvae free produce from entering the united states? i'm curious as i have a hunch that most produce coming in from foriegn/exotic countries may be subject to this method of sterilization. in general, has anyone living in the u.s. had any problems(breakouts) with avocadoes fro Mexico? Looking forward to any responses...
