| wr_uae 01-25-2003 11:00 AM | I'm just wanting to know wether any of the other melons ie Rock Melon, Sweet Melon, Honey Dew Melon, are similar to Muskmelon and could It with any of the above...for good fruit conbinations? |
| wr_uae 01-25-2003 11:05 AM | Why is there no mention of Kiwi's on there? Is it not a good Idea to mix more that 3 fruits at a time? Are these combinations purely to give you the maximun amount of Vitamins? |
| Wai 01-26-2003 03:28 PM | quote:Only watermelon is really different; the other ones can be combined well with eachother, and with bananas and raisins for example (some honey added ). quote:because they are a little less ideal, which does NOT mean they are not perfect fruits; they are., but this small list is just about optimizing nutrient intake when you eat (too) little fruits, and worry about nutrient intake. When you eat lots of fruits, there is no worry about nutrient absorption (if you also consume animal food) quote:If they all combine well, it is no problem... it just takes a bit to list those possible combinations... quote:yes... |
| Sanna 01-27-2003 10:39 AM | do sharon fruits (or persimmon) combine with other fruits? do bananas combine with all other fruits? what fruits do kiwis combine with? |
| Wai 01-27-2003 02:29 PM | quote:i haven't found a fruit yet they combine well with... quote:most fruits, yes, but some fruits don't combine with any other fruit quote:bananas! and strawberries |
| Sanna 01-30-2003 04:51 PM | why don't some fruits combine well? do you know? what makes them "different"? and why do some combine? I consume mostly oj, bananas and avocadoes. are there fruits that would go well with these three fruits? do melons for example (not watermelon) combine with these three fruits? or mangoes? (finding a properly ripened mango is a different story) |
| Wai 02-01-2003 02:02 PM | quote:because of the different acidity and enzymes they contain; enzymes need a specific acidity. Nutralizing such an acidity in order to create the right acidity for digestion, takes different neutralizing actions. So, that when fruits are too different, their combined digestion is difficult. quote:fruits such as bananas combine very well with other fruits because they are so neutral, so then your digestion system only has to neutralize the acidity and deal with the enzymes of the fruit the banana is combined with. quote:Ah, I see that i've not been clear enough; if you eat those fruits alone, it doesn't matter what fruits you eat during they day, because they are not combined directly. i know that you don't directly combine bananas with avocado; the avocado, for example, is eaten alone. So, only when you want to combine fruits DIRECTLY (eating them at the same time), then you need to be careful. If you eat them separately, there is nothing to worry about. |
| Sanna 02-04-2003 06:32 AM | no I do combine banana and avocado, I mash them up with a fork and mix to create homogenic mass..it looks like baby food. so I do combine them directly. Should I eat the avocado on an empty stomach...I am a bit confused now. And besides....even if I ate the banana first and the avocado right afterwards...the banana is still in my stomach and so I am combining them, right? I mean, it all gets mixed up in my stomach anyway...what fruits can I have in my stomach at the same time? Can I for example DIRECTLY combine cantaloupe, banana, oj, mango and avocado? What fruits does avocado combine well with? What happens if I combine the wrong combination of fruits? Are they not well digested? How do you eat your fruit Wai? what do you eat on a typical day? Like how much do you eat in one "meal" and what foods do you combine... Sorry for being so annoyingly persistent on this subject...I just wanna get it right ![]() |
| Wai 02-04-2003 12:53 PM | quote:they don't combine well, but we are all individually VERY different, so it may be okay for you... quote:true, and that is why we generally advise not to eat them in one meal quote:there are plenty of fruits that combine perfectly quote:cantaloupe, banana, oj and mango combine well, but not with avocado. Avocado combines well with tomato, cucumber and lettuce, or with egg yolk quote:that is individually different, but in general, then the food is less well digested, and this may result in bloating / gasses quote:i only combine fruits in a fruitshake, or in a salad. But, when i eat whole fruits, i always eat them alone, simply because i'm stuffed before i can eat more. i don't eat meals; i zip from my shakes and snack from my salad all day. ehrrr, okay, i DO eat 'a whole meal' when i eat munch food... quote:don't be sorry! you are not annoying me. the questions; that is what this board is for; it's all about the details... |
| Sanna 02-05-2003 08:50 AM | I remember you mentioned grapefruit, papaya, passion fruit, sharon..and watermelon as fruits that don't really combine well with other fruits...are there more? guava? I love litchi, if I want to add them to a fruit salad, what other fruits can be in it? What other exotic, "rare" fruits would be ok to combine? I have been eating fresh figs with bananas, is this ok? btw why do you say papaya is a fruit that shouldn't be eaten in big amounts? We have good, well ripened blood oranges available here, and I love to juice them...is the juice similar to regular oj? what about its nutritional value? Do all fruits combine well with Brazil nuts? what fruits don't... thanks! ![]() |
| Wai 02-06-2003 03:23 PM | quote:guava indeed... quote:i'm sorry, but i haven't experimented with litchis quote:not a perfect combination, but not a bad one either... quote:even when consumed all by itself, in big amounts, it can lead to indigestion quote:it's similar to regular OJ quote:only fruits that are dried; raisins, dried figs, dried dates etc. (and bananas, and apple) quote:many watery fruits, such as oranges, pineapple, kiwi |
| Sanna 02-16-2003 11:03 AM | sooo...yolks combine with oj, bananas and apple juice....and avocado Brazil nuts combine with dried fruits and banana, apple avocado combines with tomato and cucumber (and yolks) (does it not combine with oj?) and all other fruits only combine well with olive oil...right? so whenever I am eating fruits (other than orange, banana, apple) I only have one choice for stabilizing the blood sugar level:olive oil I always thought I could eat an avocado/nuts with any sweet fruit... But now since I started eating avocado alone and B nuts only with banana....digestion does seem a lot easier. Why don't nuts mix with other fruits than dried? And mashed bananas with fresh raw egg yolks tastesso wonderful!!! I never tried it before cos I thought we shouldn't consume fiber with the yolks. But it's really good. |
| Wai 02-16-2003 02:53 PM | You may perfectly be able to combine avocado with OJ, and nuts / avocado with any sweet fruit, because that is individually VERY different. all i'm doing, is giving some general guidelines...quote:here you go quote:I think because of their water contents / to what extend they are concentrated; its similar |
