| creamy_avocado 11-14-2002 01:04 AM | I've always read that fruit and fat is bad food combining, and my body seems to agree... especially with the dried fruit/nut combination (even though its quite tasty). I seem to have a problem with "dry" foods in general, and I usually soak my dried fruit- would soaking my nuts be okay as well? Also, is it okay to use some oil on a fruit salad instead of eating nuts or salad afterwards? Is the nut/dried fruit combination supposed to be a minimal part of the diet? How many nuts should we eat? I think its interesting that this fruit/fat combination is a big advantage over the regular fruitarian diet (and of course the addition of animal products). There seem to be so many problems with a fruitarian diet.. are all of those moot on Wai's diet? Thanks ![]() |

So, you just need to find the right combination for your body. quote:Ah, yes, especially men can have a problem with digesting dried fruits, and even nuts. I don't know why. Soaking the dried fruits overnight, and even the nuts if you want, can be the solution. Though my body, for example, doesn't like consuming dried fruits at all. quote:Of course! It is just about consuming some type of fat with every sugary meal, to stabilize the blood sugar level. Oil is absolutely perfect, and is digested perfectly. That is why I add oil to my juices; I don't have to eat a salad and with every zip I take, I ingest sufficient fat. quote:Dried fruits are NOT essential; fruits in general are. Nuts are not essential either, if you daily eat fresh raw animal food that is. If you submit a diet of solely fresh fruits and animal food to the nutrient calculator, you can see that it can supply you with sufficient of all essential nutrients. quote:I don't know all the problems with a fruitarian diet. Here are some possible problems with a fruitarian diet, do you know more? - a lack of vitamin B12 : fresh raw animal food supplies you with all the B12 you need - a lack of vitamin D : fresh raw egg yolks and/or fish supply with sufficient vit. D. - a possible lack of cholesterol (depending on your cholesterol metabolism); fresh raw animal food contains good cholesterol. - a too much fluctuating blood sugar level; fat with every meal solves this problem - a lack of energy; the combination of sugars with fats is very effective to counteract this issue, especially in the form of juices with oil added (and sugar if necessary). - a lack of iron; egg yolks are 3 fold higher in iron than beef. Brazil nuts and hazelnuts contain high amounts of iron too. - gasses / indigestion due to the high fiber intake; drinking juices instead of whole fruits solves this issue. Fresh raw animal food is very easy to digest also. |
| creamy_avocado 11-14-2002 10:26 AM | Thanks RRM I also know that TEETH are a major issue for fruitarians.. even to the point of losing all of them! Other than that, there seem to be other problems related to deficiencies- brittle hair and nails, underweight, weakness, calcium deficiencies (bone problems), etc. Because of the eggs and fish in this diet, many of those are probably not a concern.. except for maybe the calcium deficiency? I read that this diet has enough mg of calcium.. but all of the foods that are supposed to be high in it (nuts, egg yolks) all have more phosphorus than calcium and are therefore acid forming.. is anyone else concerned? Thanks again RRM! |
