| karen 08-06-2002 11:55 AM | I understand that dried fruits have to be sun dried, (no heating involved). Is there a way to know if fruits have been exposed to heat? Wai, I also remember from the old Acne Board, that enough fat (if not even more than usual) is to be consumed after dried fruit, as it contains more sugar. I often enjoy dates or figs and I usually just have a sip of olive oil after. Do you think it is enough? |

Maybe someone else knows? quote:The sample diet is about eliminating all possible dietary causes of acne. In most acne patients however, the acne is NOT caused by too much fluctuating blood-sugar levls. As long as you did not manage to clear your acne, you should stick to all the sample diet rules, but after this you can start experimenting. For many of us this means that we find out that we can eat no or hardly any 'bad foods', but most of us do not need to be so strict about eating enough fats after eating fruits / dried fruits, simply because in most of us the acne is not caused by too much fluctuating blood sugar levels. On the other hand, it IS healthier for your insulin system to eat fat after sugar, because the fat stabilizes the blood sugar level. But, if your system is not so susceptible to too much fluctuating blood sugar levels, you don't need to be so strict about eating a certain amount of fat after fruits. Actually, your body will tell you if it cannot handle the sugars alone very well; consuming the fruits without fat will then make you tired too soon after having consumed the fruits; it can make you moody, agitated and depressed. So, try to listen to your body, what it likes, and what not. Does it prefer the fat after the fruits? or doesn't it matter? does it need much fat all the time, or just a little? We are all different, so there is no rule that applies to everybody. Luckily, you only need to listen to your body. |
