Wai,

According to the diet, we need to consume pounds of fruit a day. How do 3 liters of orange juice figure into this? Do we convert the liters of juice to fluid ounces? Or do we simply weigh the peeled oranges before they are juiced?

Thanks!

Once you are already doing the diet for a while, you don't need to weight the fruits anymore.
Actually, the advice to consume pounds of fruits a day, is a bit inaccurate, and an understatement. It was just meant for those that start with the diet, and have no idea what to eat. They need to know that they need to eat lots of fruits, and that 'lots' does not mean ie '3 bananas, 2 apples and 2 oranges', but 'many pounds' of fruits.
With this diet, you need to ingest most of your energy by consuming fruits, or their juices, and from fat.
Even consuming lots of fat, you still need to consume pounds of fruits. I cannot possibly say how many pounds, because that depends on how much energy you need, and how much of it is fulfilled by consuming fat.

How much juice do you need?
I cannot tell you, because that depends on your energy needs, and on how much fat you consume, and whole fruits (such as bananas).
To maintain or increase your muscle weight, it is best to consume as much juices (with sugar and oil added) instead of whole fruits.

I definitely understand what you're saying, Wai. I was just curious, in terms of nutrients, how many pounds of oranges would equal a single liter of orange juice. I used your calculator to get a rough idea, and it looks like about 2.5 pounds of oranges contain the caloric equivalent to a single liter of juice. I guess I answered my own question. [Smile]

Ah, okay [Smile] and isn't it easier to drink a liter of OJ than to eat 2.5 pounds of oranges?
