Wai, do you have any suggestion as to where i can get sun dried fruit? Online? I've checked many places around Boston (health food stores) and they are all heated....I'm so excited to finally have found a solution to my acne, this diet really works wonders! After dealing with acne for 10 years...after many dermatologist appointments...after spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on supplements ...to find a real solution is so relieving. I have been diagnosed with celiacs disease (complete intolerance of any gluten). I was wondering if you had a different take on it than my doctor.Do you think i could ever eat gluten again without inflaming my small intestine which causes malabsorbtion. i was pondereing it and wondered if this disease could have caused my body not to be able to handle the dirty protein very well (because of the malabsorbtion) Anyway, thanks for any comments you have!...I appreciate you Wai.-Lynn

Then you better check online resources indeed...

I don't think so. [Smile] Some opioid peptides in the gluten are extremely powerful.
Some schizophrenics can even be cured by eliminating gluten from their diet...

It may have contributed to your acne indeed!

Hi Lyn,

I suffered from Crohn's disease for three years, on and off medication. Then I learned about the Specific Carbohydrate diet, which says that we should not eat any starches (polysaccharides) or refined sugars (disaccharides). Well, I hit the jackpot. Within a few weeks I was free of symptoms and within a month my blood chemistry had returned to healthy levels. Just check the charts to see the proof.

This diet also works perfectly for celiacs disease. Just get rid of all starches and you will heal. Check the diet on breakingtheviciouscycle.com and SCDiet.org.

Wai's diet will also work perfectly, probably even better for celiac disease, as it is a subset of the SCDiet.

Good luck,

Ed,

Sucrose is a disaccharide (glucose + fructose), but is also perfectly natural (unrefined) and abundantly present in fruits. And it certainly does not cause / aggravate Crohn's disease or celiacs disease.

Hi Wai,

I disagree. Sucrose like in beet- or cane-sugar really aggrevates my condition, but fruits are no problem to me..

Might it be that the concentration (and amount) is much lower and that fruits also contain some of the enzymes neccessary to digest the sucrose correctly ?

Hi Wai,

I didn't interpret your reply correctly..

I generalized too much: I should say:
To not eat any starches (polysaccharides) or refined sugars (disaccharides like in refined cane- and beetsugar; small amounts of sucrose in natural fruits are allowed).

Thanks,

Ed,

What do producers use when fumigating dried fruit? I bought some fruit, and I didn't notice the lable that said, "triple fumigated" until I opened it. I soaked them in water and drained the liquid. I don't know if that made any difference.

they use Methyl bromide, an oxygen in nitrogen solution, low atmospheric pressure, or up to 2 weeks-exposure to carbon dioxide

the latter 2 seem rather harmless to me

Hi Wai, will the dried fruit at the supermarket cause acne. The ones that are prepackaged. What if they say "sun-dried". Please help if ya get a chance. Tell me what to look for? Thanks!

If they are sun-dried they are perfect!
If not, their protein is dirty protein.
