I usually buy my fruits at big grocery stores like Stop and Shop or Shoprite or PathMark. They dont sell many of the exotic fruits like pomogranate, custard apple, and even fruits like mango are very expensive there (compared to for, eg., an Indian grocery store which sells mangoes at $6 for 10 mangoes, whereas ShopRite etc. sell it for a dollar a piece) . Avocados are $1.50 a piece at shoprite. Does any one have suggestions on where to buy good quality fruits for less? I havent tried any Chinese or Mexican stores.. Any one with good experience, please share the wealth...Thanks

I usually advice people to buy fruits etc. in immigrant stores, because in my country, that is where you can get fruits the cheapest, and they somehow seem to find more pride from not wanting to sell their own people badly ripened fruits etc., and though you are not one of them, you can still buy the same fruits as they do.
Also, here, the immigrants (mainly from Morocco and Turkey) traditionally have more affinity with fruits than the native Dutch (not much sunlight here).
