| sunrayblind 05-02-2003 05:58 PM | am confused about food combining. Are you saying, at the same meal, have some fruit, followed by some nuts, and some salad if I so choose? I ask because I used to consume heavy amounts of smoothies (fruits and nuts blended together). Tasted great but didn't feel optimum energy afterwards. what gives? |
| jay_1 05-03-2003 02:21 AM | Do you add sugar to these smoothies? The fruit consumed by themselves for many does not provide sufficient energy. According to the "rules," you need to add at least 150 grams of sugar to every 1.5 quarts of orange juice,or in your case your smoothies. Thats 2/3 of a cup of sugar, which is a lot of sugar. Don't forget to add 50 grams oil also. |
| sunrayblind 05-03-2003 05:01 PM | Jay: Thanks for the response. need a clarification. You're saying add sugar to the smoothies? you mean off the shelf, refined sugar? Or what other form? Also, does blending the smoothie alter the nutrients in ways that just eating the fruit and nuts whole does not? |
| Wai 05-10-2003 12:54 PM | quote:yes the fruits-nuts smoothies may have contained enough fat, but not enough sugars, so that they wount make you feel energetic quote:yes, or honey, of course quote:yes, but this is actually only an issue in acne patients if you have acne, then you better take pressed juices or juice from the juice extractor, and add sugar and oil to these if you dont have acne, the alteration is of no importance |
| preciousone 06-19-2003 10:46 PM | is adding the sugar only necessary for gaining muscles? |
| RRM 06-20-2003 03:08 PM | It is essential if you have problems ingesting enough energy, maybe because you are very busy, or because you don't feel like eating that much food, or whatever. Regarding gaining muscle weight ingesting enough energy all the time is essential, but healthwise, it is important as well (to prevent too much fluctuating blood sugar levels). So, we are not advocating adding sugar to your juice, but ingesting enough energy all the time. And if that requires adding sugar to your oil, please do. RRM |
