| Author | Topic: how much fat with sugar? |
| gavriel 05-04-2003 10:06 AM | I do not know what are Carbohydrates. Is that what should be in a 2:1 relation to fat (Total lipid) consumption, when calculating your diet? Help!!!!!!!!! I have no idea otherwise how much olive oil to consume... I was taking 8 Tb. spoons of olive oil (more than 110 g.) and the yolks as my only fat source... no avocados, no nuts etc. (is that O.K.)?? anyone?! Thanks. |
| jay_1 05-04-2003 05:30 PM | quote:Carbohyrates is glucose(sugar), which is found in fruits. You need 1 gram of fats(lipids) to every 2 grams of carbohydrates(sugar.) For example: You just ate 1 medium sized bannana(1 Unit Medium,) enter this information into the nutrient calculator, this totals to be about 23.6 grams of carbohydrates(sugar.) You need to meet at least halfway with fats(lipids). So enter half an avocado(.5 unit.) Notice your fat(lipids) is at 15.4 grams, and your carbs total 29.6. This is just an example of a proper balance. Of course your going to have to eat more then just one banana and half an avocado. You can get a lot of energy from squeezing your own orange juice and adding sugar and oil to balance the sugar. I believe this is correct, however I may be wrong, but I hope this clears up some of your confusion(and your acne.) Don't panic, if you have any other questions browse the message board more thoroughly. There is a chance that someone has already asked some of your future questions. quote:I am not sure if just consuming olive oil is O.K. That is something that Wai should answer. Why don't you experiment with avocados or nuts? They are very good for you. |
| gavriel 05-05-2003 02:06 PM | Thanx J1 Well, avocados are fine, I started taking them yesterday (thanks), but nuts... they seem to cause acne. I wanted to save time and aliminate them during the semple period in case they realy are causing acne as some other people complained about it as well. I start iching and the inflamation is worse minutes after consuming nuts. It might have another reason/be an ilusion of course, but I wanted to eliminate ALL possible causes from the start... I did not try Brazil Nuts though and also other nuts like macademia and Almonds. I am all hope one of them will be fine especially once the body is cleaner... |
| gavriel 05-05-2003 07:31 PM | another question J1/somebody who knows: What does "Missing item" mean? (in the calculator I mean...) |
| Wai 05-08-2003 07:56 AM | besides glucose, sucrose (= plain sugar = glucose + fructose) and fructose and other sugars (incl starch) are also carbohydrates it is best to consume fat from a variety of sources (incl fish, yolks, avocadoes etc) quote:link |
| gavriel 05-08-2003 08:36 AM | sorry, I asked about "missing items in another thread - please ignore this question... Thnx G. |
| ongwb78 05-09-2003 12:43 PM | Dear Wai & all, Currently I'm waiting for my 2 weeks layoff from antibiotics before starting Wai's diet. For 5 days, I eat only fruits and olive oil(cold pressed) & drink distill water. I always drink 2 to 3 tablespoon of olive oil right after eating fruits besides adding oil into oj. Is that enough? I'm not good at using the nutrient calculator, so is there any other way to tell that the body's sugar & fat levels is not balanced? Any advice is greatly appreciated! ![]() |
| Wai 05-09-2003 12:49 PM | using the calculator really is the easiest way anyone can do it lets take it step by step in this thread: link ask away, and we'll guide you through it... quote:seems fine to me quote:you can tell if you lack the fat; your blood energy level will fluctuate too much, you will feel tired easily, depressed, eak etc |
| himeki 05-29-2003 12:28 PM | I don't want to have to fret over exact measurements. So is it okay if I just eat an orange dipped in pure seasame oil (2 tablespoons)as a snack to maintain my blood sugar level? thanks =) |
| Wai 05-29-2003 12:28 PM | yes! |
| Moon 06-07-2003 12:47 PM | Hi there, When you eat fat with fruit, and then wait a while til you are hungry again, must you eat fat with fruit again or can you just eat fruit. The reason I ask this is because sometimes after a meal with fat and fruit, I may feel hungry again for something sweet, but not for fat. Does this mean that my blood fat levels are still high enough and that I don't need to eat any fat yet? thanks Moon |
| RRM 06-07-2003 12:48 PM | Yes, the longer you are on this diet, the more accurately you can 'feel' what it is that your body needs. And yes, if you do consume sufficient fat in general, sometimes all you need, is some extra glucose. RRM |
