| jstolz182 03-24-2003 03:00 PM | The diet has worked wonders but I was wondering if i go out drinkin this weekend..How much will that make me retain water...will i break out bad...is there anything i can do right before i go out or right after to limit the retaining of water from the alcohol? P.S. I just drink hard liquor...usually no mixer |
| Wai 03-27-2003 01:00 PM | alcohol can cause water retention because the liver needs to work very hard to rid the alcohol, and therefore is less capable of eliminating excess / dirty proteinquote:drinking lots of water before and after surely helps a lot (this may sound contradictive, but it isn't; you need extra water to eliminate water retention; the extra water drains away the water-retaining molecules) |
| rawbebe 04-18-2003 12:29 PM | It would seem to me, in that case, that it is not entirely necessary to cut out alcohol from your diet completely, but to know under what circumstances it can safely be consumed... ...such as not mixing alcohol with any food at all, making sure you're consuming alcohol on an empty stomach... ...and consuming plenty of water beforehand and after. Does this sound about right? |
| Wai 04-18-2003 01:32 PM | YES!!! |
| jstolz182 05-08-2003 07:10 AM | Hey Wai..if I go out drinkin, what should I drink? I'm on this diet to clear up my acne (which it has done VERY well thank you very much). Should I drink straight hard liquor. Mix it with soda? or should i drink light beer? I know to not eat any munch food while i'm out and also to drink plenty of water. Thanks Wai if you could respond! |
| ninesky 05-08-2003 07:11 AM | The result seemed to be that you should not eat while drinking and should consume plenty of water. For me I feel and look the best afterwords if I stick to almost pure ethanol and water, that is I drink a hard liqour such as vodka or tequila along with lot's of water. I'm not really sure if wine or vermouth is ok, and would be glad to hear about it. I experienced no problems with vermouth and gin(martini) but that was taking a pretty big risk. Oh and I don't drink more than once ever two or three months so I can't say how more frequent drinking might effect me. |
| Wai 05-08-2003 07:16 AM | vodka and gin are better than whiskey and cognac for example mixes are the worst, and dont drink sodas wine is actually relatively harmless, better than beer actually, all alcohol is 'munch food' and i will therefore move this thread to the "after the sample diet" forum soon |
| TheTamperer 06-12-2003 01:18 PM | Hi Wai, Could you explain why the various types of alcoholic drink are relatively more or less harmful than the others. Is sugar content (e.g. mixers) a key factor? Thanks! |
| RRM 06-13-2003 02:12 PM | It matters how much protein the drink contains, whether it is a wheat product, and how it is processed, just as with food. RRM |
| TheTamperer 06-13-2003 05:38 PM | Of the drinks mentioned above, is the following order from least to most harmful correct? Wine - Red or White Vodka / Gin Whiskey / Cognac Beer Soda Mixed drinks (cocktails?) In saying that wine is relatively harmless, what level of intake would be unlikely to cause a reaction? Thanks, much appreciated! |
| TheTamperer 06-15-2003 01:51 PM | And may I also ask what it is about wine that makes it so harmless? From the above, I guess it has a relatively low protein content and isn't wheat based. Are there other factors? Thanks a lot... |
| RRM 06-19-2003 01:17 PM | To make it even more complex; just as with food, the susceptibility to the acne causing ingredients is individually VERY different. The only move I would make in that list is that cognac comes right behind the wine. I can't tell you about a level, just one cannot do so about food; the 15 gram 'dirty' protein in food, is, in that respect, an artificial level. Compared to other alcoholic beverages, wine is the least 'processed'. RRM |
