My daughter has been on minocycline for 4 years and wants to start the diet. She got off it two days ago. If she doesn't do the raw eggs and fish part right now and takes B12 instead will it work? Also because she just got off the mino, will that be a problem for the diet to be effective?

yes, if you (your daughter) have been on antibiotics, your defense system may be affected, and less well able to cope with natural bacteria, and thus, your first need time to recover before exposing your body to levels of bacteria a healthy (non-sterile foods consuming) person can perfectly cope with.

Supplements can cause acne too, because of the binding substances they contain. the good news about B12 is that your body can store B12 in such large amounts that it can supply you with sufficient B12 up to a few years...
So, if your daughter has been eating animal food regularly, she can safely start the diet without taking the animal food and without supplementary B12.

it may very well be; the adverse effects of anti-acne treatments can last a while, though that doesn't really go for antibiotics... so, i guess her chances are pretty good.

Hello! I have one more question, I want to be a totally clear on the "rules" before I begin...I have been on Minocycline and am going to stop, so for the next two weeks should I take a probiotic containing live and active cultures? When I was on the antibiotic I ate organic dairy yogurt everyday, sometimes twice a day to prvent overgrowth of anything harmful, and it seems to have worked! Now however that I am not going to be eating the yogurt should I supplement w/probiotics for the 2 weeks? Thanks Wai!!!
God Bless!

no, no, no
your intestines contain over 400 known bacteria that aid your defense system, and taking some cultured ones in an artifical balance is in no proportion to the ones in your body, and also rather inhibit your recovery than enable natural recovery
Still all the required bacteria are inside of you, it is just that the mino has imbalanced them. To recover from this their needs to be an adjustment of the current balance, and the producer of this supplement cannot possible tell exactly bacteria are needed in exactly what proportions. the only one who can perfectly do so, is your body

maybe not because of the yogurt, but rather despite the yogurt
In my view, eating naturally, you optimally allow your body to recover
No supplement can top your defense system's recovery capacities

Hey Wai,

Thanks for getting back on that issue! [Smile] The only other question I have (right now!) is concerning munch food, I have grown to love yogurt and would enjoy that as a munch food, so would soy or dairy yogurt be better? -I asked this in another post but maybe you will see this first!- Thank you for taking time to help everyone!!!!

then i would prefer dairy yogurt over soy milk, because the yogurt is at least fermented (less harmful than milk), and the phyto-estrogens in soy for sure influence your hormone metabolism
on the other hand, even yogurt still contains hormones (by nature)
