AuthorTopic: What & what not to eat?

I was going to start the diet program in the next couple of days...i've read through the acne book...more or less get it figured out ...go out and buy the food..then I start reading on the bulletin board that some of the things I got I can't eat raw or cooked...brochilli, lettuce.

I've I missed somthing is the a list somewhere??
All I need to know is
1. what veggies I can eat and do these have to be eaten raw?
2. Can all fruits be eaten?
3. do you have to be exact in amonts when balancing the fruits out with some fats? or could you just have say a banana & apple then a hand full of brazil nuts?

Please help

Wayne, it sounds like you may have overlooked these pages: The Sample Diet Rules and The Sample Diet Q & A.

To answer your questions, veggies are not part of the sample diet. (Although you can eat avacado, cucumber, tomato... which are often confused for vegetables.) All fruits can be eaten, unless you find yourself allergic to particular ones. And finally, the fruit:fat ratio doesn't need to be precise, but Wai recommends about 1g fat for every 2g sugar. She provides the sugar and fat contents of common foods here.

its all in % and we are talking g
Do i just need to look at the total carbs reading for the sugar content?

so what if I had an apple

total carbs = 11%
fat = 1%

then had some brazil nuts
total Carbs = 4%          
fat = 67% 
(there are no readings for quantities here how much nuts = this percentage)

based on these percentages how would I work out how much nuts to eat to get the ratio of
2g sugar : 1g Fat

Sorry I'm not great at maths

You need to know how much you ate of every food.
The easiest thing to do is to submit the foods to the nutrient calculator.
For example:
If you submit 1 apple and 3 Brazil nuts, the total values will be:

9 gram fat and 21 gram sugars

, which is about 1:2, so that is okay!
When the ratio appears not to be okay, you simply increase the intake of the fatty part until the ratio is okay.

Hi,

I just want to get this straight.
All uncooked vegetables and fruits and anything else that is uncooked and raw is not known or prone to cause acne ?
Would warming in a microwave be the same as another method of cooking them?
All sugar and honey is safe?
Any kind of sodium is not?
I would think salt would help with acne because it absorbs moisture and dries things up.

all raw fruit that can be perfectly digested is okay

vegetables (raw or cooked) are not okay (raw veggies contain enzyminhibitors, impairing your digestion, which may also lead to acne)
tomatoes and cucumber are vegetable fruits, and are okay, unlike hard to digest (raw) vegetable fruits such as zuchini, eggplant, pumpkin etc

salt taken internally (consumed) causes water retention that causes pinching off of sebum canals
salt applied externally (on the skin) dehydrates the outer skin, which causes the shriveling of the outer skin, which may block the deportation of sebum to the surface of the skin (just as the hard skin on a healing wound may), which may cause the accumulation of sebum in the skin
Dehydration of the skin may also lead to an increase of the sebum production, which may also aggravate your acne
