| Author | Topic: Explanation of pinching off sebum canals |
| creamy_avocado 11-11-2002 04:54 PM | So, I've read about the dietary causes of acne and I was hoping someone could give me a clearer explanation.. The acne is caused in people whose skin produces too much sebum, and the canals are blocked off, which causes the pimples.. right? Now, is it that the salt/spices/'dirty' protein etc. BLOCKS off the canals? So, when you cut these out of your diet, even if you produce a lot of sebum, that will just moisturize your skin but won't form pimples because the canals will not be blocked off.. yes? So, theoretically, when following Wai's diet, your skin should always be 100% clear if you don't eat munch foods? And amounts of fats/sugars don't matter? What about problems digesting nuts (often leads to pimples).. any thoughts on supplemental digestive enzymes? -Some people (like me!) even have problems digesting the softer nuts like brazils and macadamias.. Thanks! --creamy_avocado, raw vegan 1 year and wanting clear skin! (now eating egg yolks! oh my!) ![]() |
| RRM 11-12-2002 03:03 PM | quote:Yes, indirectly: they are all water-attracting molecules, and by atracting more water in the true skin, this skin layer will contain more water, which increases the water pressure on the sebum canals that are in the true skin; they get pinched oof by the increased water pressure. quote:Yes. quote:Yes, but there are more factors that can cause water retention in the true skin: - in some the blood glucose level is less strictly regulated, and if that is the case in you, too much fluctuating blood sugar levels can also cause acne, because glucose is also a water attracting molecule. - hormones also influence water retention; not only may they cause your skin to produce more sebum, other, or the same hormones may also cause water retention, and if that is the case, Wai's diet will be insufficient to clear your face totally (because some of the watere retention remains). quote:Yes, they do, that is why it is advised to eat enough fat with every sugary meal (to stabilize the blood sugar level). Consuming enough energy all the time is also important to prevent the breakdown of tissue protein into smaller particles. quote:Yes, in some of us that can also cause acne indeed. quote:You need so many different enzymes, in exactly the right balance, which differs per meal, and per person. there is no supplement that contains all these enzymes, and it is simply not possible for any supplement to contain them in the right balance. the problem with ingesting enzymes, is that it more likely impairs the balance of enzymes, than helping it. Suppose you really lack a certain enzyme (to a certain extend), then you first need to find out which one it is, don't you agree? By ingesting others, you probably do more harm than good. On this diet, you don't NEED nuts if you eat fresh raw egg yolks or fresh raw fish daily (and lots of fruits of course). RRM |
| creamy_avocado 11-12-2002 03:48 PM | hmm... what if I like nuts? Is there a way to strengthen my digestion or something? What about soaking? Thanks |
| RRM 11-14-2002 05:17 AM | Soaking makes the nuts a bit easier to digest indeed. It would be great if you could buy realy fresh, non-dried nuts, because they are better digested than dried nuts. Unfortunately, really fresh, non-dried, Brazil nuts, for example, can only be bought in Brazil. So, you need to know someone who grows his/her own nut trees (or do it yourself of course). |
| creamy_avocado 11-14-2002 10:31 AM | Well, luckily I do know someone with a black walnut tree! They're pretty good But I guess I'll have to rely on soaking for the other nuts.. Also, you say that nuts arent necessary if you're eating animal products.. but I've seen Wai say that you should still eat nuts, but not necessarily Brazil nuts since you get all the good protein, etc from the animal products.. hmm |
| RRM 11-14-2002 02:48 PM | Where does it say so? Regarding nutrients, you will ingest all the nutrients you need if you eat lots of fruits and some animal food. Simply submit your version of the diet to the nutrient calculator. |
