I am on the fifth day on the sample diet. I had actually been on it before and followed it in its two-week course. I should have been more awed by the results then: pimples literally shrivelled up and died, my chubby cheeks took a more chiseled look and my skin was oh-so-soft. However, instead of experimenting with munch foods, I went back to my old eating habits with a vengeance. For three months I binged. Not only did I gain a substantial amount of weight, my acne came back in all its glory. The temptation to eat all the wrong food was stronger than ever. Thinking that I no longer had the strength to do the sample diet again, I went back to taking Herpanacine, a natural skin supplement targetting acne, rosacea, herpes and other skin problems developed by Dr. Wayne Diamond (USA). I had taken this a couple of years ago before ever trying the sample diet and got good results but stopped when I continued eating restricted food (when taking the supplement, the following food should be eliminated: chocolate, coffee (decaf or regular), highly processed/refined food, highly acidic and salty food, red meat, etc).

A couple of weeks ago I started taking Herpanacine again and followed the food restrictions. However, it didn't help much when my period came around. My face turned so oily and broke out with six sizable pimples. I knew I HAD to go back on the sample diet. With more resolve than ever, I dove into Wai's sample diet and now I'm on my fifth day. Today, my skin is getting softer. The six pimples are just starting to dry-up. I know I will need more than two weeks of being on the diet until my face clears up 100%.

Wai, is it okay to continue with Herpanacine while being on the diet? I know the diet works for me. The supplement works for me, too. And I think that if I combine both, then I'll get even more incredible results. Herpanacine also gives me clearer eyes and added energy. I don't get colds and those little ills when I'm on it.

The reasons why one shouldn't combine other treatments with my diet are:

1. You don't know what does what; so you can never be sure about the effects of the diet, which may keep you from maintaining the diet.
Since you have already been on the diet, and KNOW that it works for you, this may be less urgent. (but can still affect your willpower to maintain the diet)

2. All products that can eliminate acne, can cause / aggravate acne in others; which can make one think that the diet doesn't work, while in fact the other treatment may be the culprit.
I don't know whether Herpanacine can cause / aggravate acne in some...
To be able to know, I need to know Herpanacine's exact ingredients that influence acne / your skin...

Thank you for your replies, Wai!

I know what you mean by willpower [Big Grin] .

As for Herpanacine, here are the ingredients:

Protein...0.5 g
Vit. A (Beta Carotene)....12, 500 IU
Vit. E (d-alpha tocopheryl succinate)....100 IU
Selenium (sodium selenate)...50 mcg
Proprietary Blend:
L-Lysine HCI; L-tyrosine; astragalus root; dandelion root; sarsaparilla root; echinacea (aerial parts), ligustrum berry

I just noticed that the capsule does have gelatin which I know you mentioned before can cause acne. Other ingredients of the capsule are: cellulose, calcium sulfate, mgnesium stearate, silica and calcium silicate.

That's it!

Is there anything wrong with taking supplementary enzymes? I came across a reply of yours to one post about how some people don't have the necessary enzymes to break down protein in their bodies.

i know this question is intended for wai therefore i dont intend to answer anything but rather project a little opinion. that is, enzymes are a complete waste of time and money. if you want to spend money on something spend it on food that applies to the diet. it wasnt untill i stopped buying crap supplements and stuck with the diet alone (without supplements) that i saw the real power of the diet and the real worthlessness of the supplements. if you need enzymes, i pretty sure all the enzymes you need you can get from food. from what ones, i dont know. ask Wai about that.

The gelatine can cause acne indeed...

Our body can compose all the enzymes it needs.
Enzymes that we cannot make (sufficiently) are called vitamins. (which also are (co)enzymes)
All people have enzymes to break down proteins. If we don't, we are dead.
Yes, those supplements are a waste of money:

1. you don't need them (we make the ourselves)
2. The cocktail of enzymes required is so complex that no supplement can come close to mimicing that.
3. this cocktail is different for every person, for every food that he/she consumes, so, no supplement can ever match that
4. no supplement contains all the enzymes we need

WOW! I'm seeing the light more and more. Thanks, Wai. [Smile]

It's sad to see society so polluted with false advertising and marketing to promote 'better' health and nutrition. [Frown]

Keep up the good work, Wai!!!
