| Azure 09-15-2002 09:41 PM | Miss Wai: I have not tried this yet but apparently many people are having success by taking large quantities of the vitamin B5. I am sure that you have heard of this. Also, I read the authors theory about B5 and it makes equally as much sense to me as does your diet. So I am wondering what your feeling is on the B5 theory and also if you think that adding B5 to your diet will make your diet work even better. Thanks. |
| Wai 09-16-2002 12:17 PM | quote:Regardless of the effects of B5, it should not be taken in combination with my diet in the first weeks of the diet. The reason: the sample diet is so strict to get immediate clarity about what causes acne. If you take something else with the diet, you don't know which treatment eliminates your acne. So, to make sure, you should only try one treatment at the time. Many people have succes with B5 (I gathered lots of testimonies). In my opinion, B5 works by decreasing the production of sebum. That is effective regarding acne, but also accelerates the aging of the skin, since sebum is protective against dehydration / aging. Also, we are talking about MEGAdoses here. The argumentation that redundant B5 is simply excreted is not valid, because the overdosing is so extreme, that it DOES force the sebum production down. If all redundant B5 would be excreted, no such an anti-sebum effect would take place in the first place. The long term effects of mega-doses B5 may be harmful to your liver (and your skin), and this has not been studied yet. But, yes, it works for many people (to fight acne). |
